Fri 27 Oct – Screen Bites Film

Film and food!

The film is Babette’s Feast (Cert U)

Regarded as the greatest food lm of all time, Gabriel
Axel’s 1987 Danish masterpiece is based on a short
story by Karen Blixen and stars Stephane Audran as a
famous Parisian chef fleeing the bloodshed of the counter
revolution. In the late 19th century, an austere and
dwindling sect on the remote western coast of Jutland
agrees to take her in as a servant. Babette spends the next
14 years cooking simple food for the spinster daughters
of the late pastor. Then she discovers that a ticket, bought
for her in France by a former regular customer, has won
the Parisian lottery. Her response is dramatic, bringing
a community together as this marvellous film reaches its
unforgettable end.
